BECAUSE YOU ONLY GET ONE CHANCE...
And after those days are gone, they're gone FOREVER!
You may be wondering about having professional newborn photographs taken, and I'm so pleased you're considering me to create them!
Newborn photographs are very precious. They have a nostalgia attached to them that cannot be replicated in the same way that images taken on your phone can.
So why should you have these images created? Well, it's simple - this is telling the story of your greatest adventure! This is celebrating you and your new baby in the most amazing way possible, and freezing that moment in time where they were brand new in this world, and your life.
One of the most fascinating things about having a baby is you fall in love with a person you haven't even met yet. They steal your heart the moment you see theirs flickering on the monitor during your first scan.
When I photograph your new baby, I'm doing more than JUST photographing your new baby, I am allowing that time when they were soooo so small and still curled up like they did inside the womb, while they still have that beautiful downy hair, before they change almost daily, to be captured and remembered forever!
To get the most out of your newborn photo session, please follow the steps below.
Much love,
Rhianne xx
step 1
Book your newborn photo session well in advance
Our diary can become full quite quickly, sometimes up to 8 weeks in advance.
If you know you want us to create images of your newborn then please book your shoot with plenty of notice.
Our newborn sessions are carried out between 7 days and up to 6 weeks after the birth. When you book your session in advance, we give you a 'floating' appointment, which means we make a note of your due date and when baby arrives we can guarantee we can see you within the above timeframe.
We only take a limited number of bookings per month to ensure we can offer this guarantee, hence why prior booking is strongly recommended.
A common trend that we've noticed is people booking after they've had their 20 week scan, though earlier is still not unheard of.
Please note, if including older siblings we strongly advise to split the session into two. There is no extra charge for this. You'll get the full newborn photoshoot experience for baby and then bring in your older child(ren) for their photos to be taken so that they're not waiting around during the newborn shoot.
step 2
Let us know baby has arrived
Hurray!!!!! Baby is here!!!!
Please let us know as soon as baby has arrived so we can schedule your session.
We will have allocated you your floating appointment based on your due date, so we can guarantee we will see you within 21 days of the birth providing you've got in touch as soon as possible - ideally within 48 hours of baby being born.
We are available via telephone on 07808262649 or email info@twineandolive.com or you can contact us via Facebook or Instagram
step 3
Consider using a dummy/pacifier for the session
Babies have a strong suckle reflex and often use the breast or bottle to pacify themselves, so to avoid baby having too much milk we ask that parents allow baby to have a dummy, even if only for the session.
This will not cause any confusion for baby, and you can discontinue use straight after the session.
step 4
The day before your newborn session
The day before the session have everything you need for the next day ready. The things you will need are:
- A full change bag with nappies, wipes and spare clothes for baby
- If baby is formula fed, plenty of spare feeds. Parents often purchase ready-made formula to use during the session so you can feed baby quickly without having to worry about temperature
- Dummies if you've chosen to use them
- A black top for you and for your partner
Step 5
The day of the session
Please bring baby in wearing their babygrow, and not with a vest on. The less we fuss over him/her the better. You can of course put them in the right amount of layers you need for outdoors using snowsuit or blankets, but please don't put baby in 'day' clothes before the session.
After giving baby their first feed of the morning, try to keep them awake by doing the following:
- Give baby a bath
- Have baby in just his or her nappy and led on a safe surface such as your bed so they can stretch and move about
- Chat to baby. Yes, yes, I know they don't understand! But they do know your voice and will listen ever so intently.
- Give him or her a baby massage. The touch will be soothing without making them drowsy.
Also... GET YOUR BIRTH PARTNER TO DO AS MUCH OF THE ABOVE AS POSSIBLE!! Give yourself time to get ready as you'll be in some of the photographs we take of baby!
Don't fancy being in them? No problem, but still give the above tasks to someone else so you can go make yourself feel human, and ready to go out for what is possibly the first time since baby came home!
step 6
After your newborn photo session
Your gallery of newborn images will be ready approximately 10 days after your photo session.
An appointment to come back and view your images will be made on the day of the shoot, and at your viewing appointment you will be presented with up to 15 beautifully taken and retouched images, printed and mounted.
step 7
Now relax!
You can now relax safe in the knowledge that something as important as your new baby and their first professional photographs are in the best of hands!
We look forward to seeing you soon, beautiful Mama!
